Singing Day: Elgar’s Music Makers
Our next singing day will be held on Saturday 14th October 2023 at Altrincham URC in Hale.
Our chosen piece this year is The Music Makers, composed by Edward Elgar in 1913. His setting of Arthur O’Shaughnessy’s poem ‘Ode’ aims to reflect the moods and emotions that all artists suffer, so you will find sadness, enthusiasm, joy and frenzy in this work. Elgar also includes themes from some of his previous choral works – notably the famous ‘Nimrod’ (Enigma Variations).
It is a glorious piece to sing, so whether you are learning it for the first time or just revisiting it, we’d love you to come and join us and be part of the ‘music-making’!
We will be in the beautiful Altrincham United Reformed Church, in Hale, Cheshire, from 11.00 till 5.30, with coffee and registration from 10.00am.
The cost of the day is £22 (including music hire), and you can pay online via BACS (details on the booking form) or by bringing a cheque to rehearsals (or you can post it to the address on the form). An acknowledgment will be sent to confirm your booking when we have received the payment.
